What are wedding favours?

Wedding favours are gifts that you give your wedding guests, on the day of the wedding. It is a simple and friendly way of saying ‘thank you for attending our wedding’. You also offer these presents so that your guests will remember your wedding special day and having enjoyed every bit of it.

There are many gifts that you can give at your wedding, but remember to keep it simple. You don’t want to overdo it. But if you are thinking of splashing out and have a very extravagant wedding, by all means, do go with the budget planned.

It is only recently that this trend became popular in Sri Lanka. It was a trend that was followed in Europe even in the 16th century. A little gift box called the ‘bonbonniere’ was given out, with sweets inside.

You can now give all sorts of gifts from candies, to cookies, little toys to potpourri to anything you really want. Just order in bulk from any retailer of interest, where sometimes you can get the gifts with the packing included! Else get your friends or family to sit around and pack them in a creative manner. Bride and groom magazine thinks it’s a good excuse to get together and have some fun prior to your wedding!
