Preparation

  1. Write your thoughts down in bullet points
  2. Sit and expand the speech
  3. Length – 3 to 5 minutes
  4. Show to a friend/family and get feedback
  5. Practice in front of mirror

On the day

  1. Keep speech in pocket / safe place before giving it
  2. Do no consume alcohol before giving speech
  3. When giving speech stand up
  4. Make sure everyone has a glass in hand and its full!
  5. Smile, greet guests and bride and groom
  6. Deliver speech making eye contact with couple occasionally
  7. Remember to mention who you are
  8. Don’t bring in any embarrassing stories or use bad language
  9. Don’t use stories that only some would know
  10. End seriously but in friendly tone wishing the couple all the very best.
